In America The early performance arts achievements of the young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely be in the child prodigy category. But for a young Irish girl with talented parents and extended family, these traits came as a natural. Maureen was welcomed into the sanctity of family on August 17 1920 located in Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was her mother. She was a accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based business and owned a share in "The Shamrock Rovers," a renowned Irish soccer squad. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen enjoyed playing sporting games in her youth and excelled at sports. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. She was the recipient of nearly all the Feis Awards for her home nation's theatre and drama proved this. At the age of 14 she joined the Abbey Theater to follow her dream and study operatic and classical vocals.
