
Annette O'Toole spent her childhood in the Houston studio run by mother. The first time she appeared on TV was in the age of two, as a kid appearing on the Don Mahoney Kiddie Trooper show. She and her mother with ten years worth of dancing and singing lessons prior to that, moved into Los Angeles a full year in the age group of thirteen to find out the possibility of being able to earn a living on the showbiz. Within two months, she got her first paid job, dancing in the Danny Kaye Show with Danny Kaye. "I've used my dancing and singing lessons in many different ways," she says. The discipline gained through this training is beneficial to actors." O'Toole's role as a debutant in My Three Sons was followed by appearances in Gunsmoke as well as The Mod Squad. She played on Hawaii Five-O, The Mod Squad, The Partridge Family. One of her greatest loves, despite her film and television success, is theatre. Following her stint of six years on Smallville O'Toole made the decision to focus on theater, something she had been doing in the past ten years. She went to New York and her first audition resulted in her being included in The Sea Gull. Her appearances have been in various Off-Broadway shows, including Adam Rapp's Kindness, Tracy Letts' Man from Nebraska as well as Tennessee Williams' A Lovely Sunday for Creve Couer.
